See The Lunar Eclipse Up Close At Tellus Science Museum
CARTERSVILLE, Ga., Oct. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It's going to be extra dark with an eerie red moon during the very early morning hours of Wednesday October 8 when a total lunar eclipse is expected to be visible over Northwest Georgia.
Tellus Science Museum will open the doors at 5 AM for guests to learn all about the total lunar eclipse before heading off to work or school. The museum's observatory will be open for moon viewing, along with smaller telescopes set up on the museum's grounds. Inside, guests can also relax in the Theater at the museum as experts provide running commentary about the eclipse while broadcasting images of the Moon from the observatory.
Should clouds hide the Moon over Tellus, the museum is prepared to tune in to other observatories in North or South America and broadcast images of the Moon from their telescopes.
The next total lunar eclipse expected to be visible over Atlanta, GA will be in September 2015. After the 2015 total lunar eclipse, we will not have another opportunity to view one so clearly until January 2019.
Tellus is a 120,000 square foot science museum located in Cartersville, just north of Atlanta. For more information about Tellus Science Museum call 770-606-5700 or visit www.tellusmuseum.org or www.facebook.com/tellusmuseum.
