DALLAS, Feb. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigations, corrections and monitoring, announced today that it has launched the Educational Video Application on ConnectUs.
The Educational Video Application presents any number of mp4 videos to inmates that can serve to communicate messages from corrections staff or to publish educational videos for those incarcerated. The Educational Video Application has unlimited potential to provide any kind of information across all housing units or specific pods through ConnectUs' proprietary operating system.
Richard A. "Rick" Smith, CEO of Securus Technologies said, "Securus is reinventing how inmates self-serve and access communication, information and content. The Educational Video Application allows any Sheriff or Correctional Administrator to publish a video message, educational program or instructional video. The possibilities are endless."
Through ConnectUs, the video application can be configured to be enabled or disabled for any time(s) of day, a specific day or all day(s). Users can access these services through Securus' multi-purpose touch screen hardware terminals installed throughout housing units for easy access. The audio is playable through the handset so it doesn't disrupt others while video controls (volume, rewind, play and fast forward) are accessed via touchscreen. The video application joins a multitude of other applications Securus has released on ConnectUs – the industry's first inmate operating system.
Over the past several years, Securus has invested over $32 million dollars and installed over 5,000 terminals to provide inmate and correctional services through unlimited applications that expand visitation opportunities, automate inmate requests and grievances, and bring educational content online.
"With the ConnectUs Video Application – we are improving the ability to communicate with inmates in a dramatic way. Better/more timely communications with inmates will improve safety for all, will improve security for all, will ultimately save lives – and we want to lead that effort," said Smith.
