DALLAS, Feb. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced today that it has activated another implementation of its Wireless Containment Solution (WCS).
Securus recently went live with another facility and is now preventing illegal contraband cell phones inside from reaching the commercial mobile network. The solution not only prevents illegal network access, but also collects the electronic identity of contraband cellphones, and provides actionable data and intelligence to aid correctional investigations teams in solving and preventing crimes.
"We applaud the States that are taking a proactive stance towards their largest security threat and preventing unauthorized communications," said Richard A. ("Rick") Smith, Chairman and CEO of Securus Technologies, Inc. "States are implementing Wireless Containment Solutions because it works to keep the public safe. Our teams are aggressively deploying this best-in-class solution to help correctional facilities control and manage contraband cellular and wireless devices in prisons and jails across the United States."
While other providers attempted various managed access solutions, they lacked the technology, expertise, and results to be successful. Now other industry solutions have appeared simply to identify cell phone signals but don't prevent them, wasting time and money, and putting lives at risk including inmate lives. The Securus Wireless Containment Solution prevents any unauthorized calls from getting to the network where they can do damage to inmates, friends, family, witnesses, victims, officers, and others in society.
"Our solution contains proprietary technology that controls and manages all unauthorized cellular devices in a controlled area of a prison while allowing authorized devices connectivity as required by an agency. It has features that can be customized based on the security policies of any correctional agency," said Smith.
"We consistently hear from our correctional customers that contraband cellphones in the hands of inmates represent the highest threat they have as they enable continued criminal activity from prison," Smith added. "Our mission with the Wireless Containment Solution is to stop this illegal use and help our customers improve safety inside and outside the facility walls."
