DALLAS, March 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced today that it has launched a product division to focus attention on the medical operations of jails and prisons.
Products and services marketed under this newly formed group include Uniek EMR, our electronic medical records software application, and Televisit, our recently acquired application that allows some medical reviews to be done via videoconferencing. Both of these applications are proving to be effective at helping correctional facilities enhance their medical operations and improve care to inmates. The Uniek EMR application meets NCCHC and ACA standards and is scalable to meet the requirements of all sizes of jails and prisons. Televisit is approved by the FDA, Health Canada, CE (Europe), COFEPRIS (Mexico), and ANVISA (Brazil) as a Class II Medical Device, and our ISO 13485 standard ensures accuracy and security of data.
"Securus Technologies continues to inject technology solutions to multiple facets of Jail and Prison operations to the aid of Correctional staff, inmate welfare, and automating operational processes," said Richard A. "Rick" Smith, CEO of Securus Technologies. "Implementing Electronic Medical Record systems, tele-medical visits and automating medical scheduling demonstrates how Securus is dedicated to modernizing the incarceration experience and improving public safety," he said.
All products are cloud-based, reducing costs and overhead, use HL7 communication standards, are HIPAA compliant, and encrypt data in transit and at rest. The Medical Solutions Division is under the leadership of Steve Wachter.
