SecurityMetrics Ranks #122 on Deloitte's Technology Fast 500, Logging 4-Year 892% Growth for PCI DSS Compliance Services
SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- SecurityMetrics, a provider of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance services for safeguarding credit cardholder data, announced today that it placed No. 122 on Deloitte's just-published 2010 Technology Fast 500™ list of the fastest-growing technology companies in North America with a four-year sales growth of 892%. The growth was spurred by SecurityMetrics' solutions for helping acquiring banks and credit card merchants meet PCI DSS validation requirements quickly, easily and affordably.
The ranking marks the second time in three months that SecurityMetrics has appeared on a well-known list of growth companies. In August, the company placed No. 408 on the 2010 Inc. 5000 list of the 5,000 fastest-growing U.S. private companies in all industries, jumping 346 slots from a year earlier.
The 2010 Deloitte list ranks both private and public technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies by percentage fiscal year revenue growth from 2005 to 2009. Minimum revenues must have been $50,000 in 2005 and $5 million in 2009, with greater than 100% revenue growth during the period. The majority of revenues must be generated by products containing the company's own proprietary intellectual property or technology.
"With the number of card-related security breaches over the last few years, the focus on PCI DSS compliance has risen exponentially," said Brad Caldwell, CEO of SecurityMetrics. "Our growth is directly related to increasing awareness of how PCI DSS compliance can help merchants protect themselves and their customers, stricter PCI enforcement by the card brands, and the technology and solutions we have developed to assist in and expedite the PCI DSS validation process."
SecurityMetrics' PCI DSS compliance validation services have been adopted by bank acquirers around the globe to help merchants use credit card processing services that conform to PCI DSS requirements. Unique achievements that have contributed to the company's growth include:
- Development of the first mass-merchant compliance model for PCI DSS, enabling the industry to help smaller merchants protect customer card data for the first time.
- A proprietary scanning engine that checks for more points of Internet security than other services and individually lists each potential entry point on the SecurityMetrics Site Certification Report.
- Comprehensive PCI support services for acquiring banks and merchant service organizations, including assistance in encouraging merchant enrollment, a web-based portal for monitoring merchant's compliance status in real time, and proactive strategies to improve merchant data security.
- Unlimited 12-month 24x7 merchant telephone support included at no upcharge to SecurityMetrics' annual flat fee per merchant, eliminating confusion caused by online-only programs that offer no personal assistance. The company's 175-person call center -- currently handles over 100,000 calls each month from merchants as well as acquirers.
- The recent introduction of PANscan, the most accurate software product that detects unencrypted credit card data stored on merchant computer systems in violation of PCI DSS rules. There is no cost to use this product for credit card detection.
SecurityMetrics also provides non-PCI-related penetration testing to improve data security, security audit programs, compliance oversight, and rapid response programs that mobilize security experts quickly to assess an attack with a complete forensics investigation.
PCI DSS is a global standard created by credit card companies to help prevent the theft of cardholder information. The standard was established by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council consisting of representatives from American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa, Inc.
