Securian CEO Named Top Leader While the Company Earns Two Employer Awards in Two Days
ST. PAUL, Minn., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- In a ranking based solely on employee surveys, Securian Financial Group Chairman and CEO Bob Senkler was named the top leader among the Twin Cities metro area large employers in the Minneapolis Star Tribune's inaugural Top Workplaces list announced Sunday, June 20.
Securian Financial Group also ranked high among the 20 best large employers on the Top Workplaces list.
Computerworld magazine announced its annual list of the 100 Best Employers in IT Monday, June 21 and Securian ranked ninth. This is Securian's fifteenth consecutive appearance on the annual Computerworld list.
In the Star Tribune's Top Workplaces survey, Bob Senkler received the highest ranking among large employers in terms of employees having confidence in their organization's leader. Securian also received the highest large employer ranking when employees were asked whether their organization operates by strong values and ethics. Eighty-seven percent of the company's Minnesota employees responded to the survey
"People look forward to going to work at a company that's successful, financially strong, provides meaningful work, and keeps its promises to customers, partners, and employees," said Senkler. "That's the standard we apply every day to everything we do." In a video posted on the Star Tribune web site, Senkler also says it's important to communicate with employees frequently, especially during tough times such as the Great Recession of 2009.
The Computerworld list is based in part on employee surveys and on statistical information about the information technology work force, training, and budget. Even though Securian is one of the smaller employers on the list, it continues to rank in the top 10.
"Computerworld's award is a reflection of the positive, high quality work environment created by our associates, combined with the ethical, respectful leadership within Securian," said Jean Delaney Nelson, senior vice president and chief information officer at Securian Financial Group.
Securian also ranked high among Computerworld's Best Employers in IT because of its low turnover rate, and high percentages of promotions and women in IT management positions in 2009.
