SecureSet Graduates First Class of Cybersecurity Professionals To Help Fill 200,000 Jobs Nationwide
DENVER, June 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SecureSet, the nation's first cybersecurity academy and accelerator, graduated its first class of cybersecurity professionals after they completed a rigorous and hands-on twenty-week specialty education. The graduates represent an elite group of individuals who have the knowledge, experience and CISSP Certification necessary to accept one of the 200,000 cybersecurity jobs available nationwide, in which the average salary is $93,000 per year.
"As a result of the graduates' hard-work and dedication, every one of them has an employment offer or is negotiating one at this time, demonstrating the incredible value employers place on their cybersecurity skills and expertise," said Bret Fund, managing partner for SecureSet and president of the academy. "I'm incredibly proud of their accomplishments and look forward to watching their cybersecurity careers grow."
Many of the graduates' employment opportunities came from the variety of job fairs and corporate relationships SecureSet established as part of its graduate career services program. Through these career fairs, SecureSet's students have a direct opportunity for employment, and the dozens of companies and organizations that attend have a keen interest in hiring proficient cybersecurity experts. In some cases, companies are sponsoring students through the academy, meaning they underwrite the tuition, and have preferred access to students for recruiting.
Companies with which SecureSet has secured relationships include:
- Colorado Cyber
- Electronic Frontier Foundation
- Global Accelerator Network (GAN)
- HP
- ISC2
- LogRhythm
- Qualys
- Softlayer
- VTI Security
- Webroot
- Western Cyber Exchange
The SecureSet graduation events have taken place all week, beginning with a career fair on Wednesday, an interactive War Games event on Thursday and the graduation ceremony today, in which Bill Crowell, former Deputy Director of the NSA, a partner at Alsop-Louie, and specialist in IT, security and intelligence, delivered the keynote speech.
SecureSet is currently accepting applications for its next semester beginning July 2016. To learn more about attending the cybersecurity academy at SecureSet, please visit www.secureset.com.
