Million-Dollar Advertising Featuring Israeli Prime Minister Calls for Importance of Strong Action Against Nuclear-Threat Iran

NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Less than a week after Vice President Joseph Biden attempted to portray the relationship between the U.S. and Israel as strong on such issues as preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons, Secure America Now (SAN), a nonpartisan organization, is expanding its issues-advocacy campaign in Florida, upping its buy commitment to more than $1 million to highlight important U.S. national security issues.  As well, SAN has gained more than 50,000 signatures from an online petition supporting action against Iran.

The new Florida ad features Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling for a clear "red line" – not the "red light" that the Obama Administration has placed on action against Iran – to halt Iran's ongoing nuclear-weapons activities.  Recent independent intelligence indicates that Iran needs only two to four more months before it has enough nuclear-weapons-grade material to arm a nuclear weapon.

"During the vice presidential debate last week, Joe Biden claimed that he and the Prime Minister were close friends and colleagues," said Paul Atanasio, a SAN advisory board member and U.S. military veteran. "Given the apparent close ties between Biden and Netanyahu, we thought the American public should hear the status of that friendship directly from the Prime Minister and make their own decisions about just how closely aligned the U.S. and Israel are when it comes to the most important national security threat our two nations face today."

Recent exclusive polling in Florida by SAN, GOP pollster John McLaughlin and Democrat pollster Patrick Caddell, indicates overwhelming support for strong action against Iran and its nuclear ambitions.

"Given the state of affairs in the broader Middle East – anti-American protests in more than 20 countries, a radical Muslim Brotherhood party ruling Egypt, and Iran's nuclear agenda – Americans must consider these issues and the course of our nation's foreign policy agenda," said Jeri Thompson, a member of SAN's advisory board.  "It's time that America made clear it stands with Israel against Iran, and draws a clear red line against it."
