Sectra to Provide Integrated RIS/PACS to Suffolk MRI
SHELTON, Connecticut, May 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- International medical technology company, Sectra (http://www.sectra.com/medical/ ) (NASDAQ OMX Stockholm: SECT B), announces its multi-year agreement with Suffolk MRI ( http://www.suffolkmri.com/), Smithtown, NY, to deliver its web-based RIS. The RIS will be seamlessly integrated to Suffolk MRI's existing Sectra PACS to increase radiology workflow efficiencies and patient throughput. This will enable Suffolk MRI to improve its level of service to referrers and patients.
"After a review of 25 RIS products we felt Sectra RIS most closely met our needs and we were already happy with the quality and service of Sectra PACS so the decision was easy," says Frederick Severino, Suffolk MRI chief technologist and PACS RIS administrator.
Sectra's RIS/PACS with embedded voice recognition will enable Suffolk MRI to speed report turnaround time, and reduce paper and manual processes. Combined with Sectra RIS online ordering and report access for referring physicians, this will increase Suffolk MRI's competitive advantage.
"A huge benefit is Sectra's workflow re-engineering process," explains Severino. "They spent a lot of time onsite learning how we do things, and determined that we can reduce our workflow steps from 48 to 20 by utilizing their RIS," adds Severino.
Sectra will develop a bi-directional interface from its RIS to Suffolk MRI's billing system. Additionally, as part of the implementation process, Sectra will migrate seven years of data from the PACS into the RIS.
