Sectra PACS Visualization Table Featured in National Geographic Channel Series "The Great American Manhunt"
SHELTON, Connecticut, June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
International medical technology company, Sectra (NASDAQ OMX Stockholm: SECT B), announces the sale of its Visualization Table to Wide-Eyed Entertainment for the interactive review of diagnostic images in a new series on the National Geographic Channel called "The Great American Manhunt".
"Our interactive visualization table fits in perfectly with the programming of the series, because it enables medical examiners to analyze and manipulate 3D diagnostic images of the show's featured mystery person," says Mikael Anden, president of Sectra in North America.
On The Great American Manhunt, a new eight part one-hour series that premiered Thursday, April 19 at 9:00 pm (ET/PT) on the National Geographic Channel, a team of experts employ the latest techniques and technology in forensic science to unravel the complex mystery of identifying a person with an exceptional life and accomplishments that have left a unique imprint on his or her body.
The Sectra Visualization Table has played a key role in two episodes: "Fractured Freddy" and "Body Scan".
"When we designed the Sectra Visualization Table we never imagined there was entertainment value to it, but it's rewarding to see that it can provide benefits outside of surgical planning and medical education," adds Anden.
Sectra Visualization Table is a large, multi-touch screen built into a table that provides real-size 3D views of patient anatomy rendered from CT or MR images. Surgeons can utilize it to assist with surgical planning by manipulating the virtual body with their hands to become familiar with specific anatomy, localize vessels, muscles and skeletal tissue, and study their three-dimensional relation. The Sectra Visualization Table facilitates discussion, training and collaboration between medical teams, and is also an efficient tool for communicating with patients.
