Second Start Announces Selection of Next Executive Director

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of Second Start Learning Disabilities Programs Inc., is pleased to announce the promotion of their Chief Operations Officer: Tara Bevington as the next Executive Director.

Ms. Bevington has worked her way up through the ranks, from part-time Human Resources Specialist to Controller and then to Chief Operations Officer. Her leadership and management skills have been not just obvious but outstanding. "Her skills and guidance has been integral to the growth and stability of the organization," stated retiring Executive Director, L.E. Boydston. "Her ability to relate to staff, students and parents transcend just normal leadership and managerial skills. She has a genuine passion for the organization's mission and empathy, which is demonstrated by her dedication and determination to ensure all students, at need, have access to Second Start's nationally and internationally recognized programs!"

The Executive Director search began in fall of 2013. From across the country Second Start search committee received over 60 outstanding resumes submitted by candidates with remarkable skills and experience.  The most qualified were contacted with the specifics of the position. The best of the candidates were vetted and then interviewed either in person or by video conferencing. The resulting top candidates were then interviewed personally.  

From this outstanding field, Ms. Bevington's leadership skills, managerial abilities and professionalism clearly distinguished herself as the natural choice. To the delight of the Board of Director's, she accepted the offered five year contract which begins this fall semester.

Second Start has grown by developing new programs and schools both in California and Nevada. The Board of Director's focus is on a continuing strategic operational plan to expand. This growth is not only to meet the need of their clients, but to provide a nurturing growth path for their employees. Ms Bevington's promotion to Executive Director is a perfect example of the amazing skill level and expertise of Second Start employees!
