Second McDonald's Cyclospora Lawsuit Filed by Ron Simon & Associates and Chicago-Based Meyers & Flowers
CHICAGO, July 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The national food safety law firm of Ron Simon & Associates, along with Chicago-based co-counsel Meyers & Flowers, has filed a second cyclospora lawsuit linked to salads sold at McDonald's restaurants.
Cyclospora is a parasite found in feces-contaminated imported fruits and vegetables.
The lawsuit was filed in Cook County, Illinois on behalf of Pekin resident Cody Barra, who purchased salads on numerous occasions from the McDonald's at 1013 Court Street, in Pekin, Illinois. A copy of the lawsuit is available upon request.
By early July, Cody began suffering from diarrhea, gas, bloating, fatigue, nausea, and weight loss, with the symptoms coming and going in waves.
Like many other residents of Illinois and Iowa, Mr. Barra had to wait until the outbreak was made public before health officials could link his illness to his consumption of McDonald's salads. To confirm the link, Mr. Barra obtained a physician's referral for a cyclospora-specific test, which Midwest physicians do not traditionally order. Proctor First Care in Peoria Heights conducted the full-spectrum stool analysis that was positive for cyclospora, confirming the link to McDonald's salads.
Lead attorney Ron Simon issued the following statement today:
"My firm represents dozens of victims in the McDonald's salads and Del Monte veggie tray cyclospora outbreaks. Many of our clients have experienced difficulty in getting the proper cyclospora test performed. I have spoken to a number of the health departments and medical professionals in recent days, and most are now prepared to properly test and diagnose those people who were infected by this painful and destructive parasite.
Through these lawsuits, we will determine where the American food safety system was breached, and make sure it does not happen again."
Mr. Simon and his law firm have established a Cyclospora Claim Center to assist victims in the outbreak. The Cyclospora Claim Center can be reached toll-free at 1-888-335-4901 or online at http://mcdonalds.ronsimonassociates.com.
Mr. Simon and his clients have been featured on NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX and virtually all other major television networks and print media. Mr. Simon has collected over $600,000,000 for his clients.
