CHICAGO, Jan. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Business partners David McCall and David Evans overcame troubled pasts and received second chances to straighten out their lives.
Hence the name of their Chicago grooming operation: Second Chance Barber Shop.
McCall and Evans need only one chance to make their customers happy, whether it's a trim or a U-Haul equipment rental. Second Chance Barber Shop, in its third year of business, has become a U-Haul neighborhood dealer and now offers trucks, trailers, towing equipment, support rental items, after hours drop-off and in-store pickup for boxes.
Reserve U-Haul items here by visiting http://www.uhaul.com/Locations/Truck-Rentals-near-Chicago-IL or calling (773) 887-9722 today. Second Chance Barber Shop is located at 5744 W. Chicago Ave. Its business hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
McCall has been a barber for 23 years. He was inspired as a child when his mother and friends would come to him for a trim.
"I began to get the feel of things," said McCall, who went on to get his license at cosmetology school.
McCall and Evans have a long history that led to their partnership. McCall and his family were always close friends with Evans' wife, and that warmth extended to Evans.
Second Chance Barber Shop has a bond with its neighbors. McCall likes running a business in the area where he grew up. He said that living in the Austin neighborhood gives him credibility with community members and fellow businesses.
Second Chance Barber Shop is next door to a neighborhood institution: Coleman's No. 2 Hickory BBQ.
"Every time I am hitching up a trailer outside, the people comment on how good that barbecue smells," McCall said of the city landmark.
McCall is active in charity and church events. As a way to give back, he holds a back-to-school special each year where he offers kids free haircuts. Boys don't have all the fun; stylists on staff can braid or curl girls' hair. In addition, McCall gives out school supplies to the children.
U-Haul Company's partnership with Second Chance Barber Shop is off to a good start. McCall was previously a U-Haul renter who took advantage of the dealership program.
"U-Haul brings more business, but they don't overshadow Second Chance," he said. "The two businesses are equal."
Second Chance Barber Shop is a great place to become U-Haul Famous. Take your picture in front of a U-Haul product, send it in and your face could land on the side of a U-Haul truck.
