The Opening Ceremony, hosted by Con Edison on June 16, will feature the State's top policy makers and leading market participants who will discuss New York's recently announced Reforming the Energy Vision (REV), which aims to encourage system efficiency with initiatives that will change the way electricity is distributed and used in New York State.
"Governor Cuomo has committed to scaling up the clean energy economy and create a more resilient, clean, cost-effective and dynamic energy system," said John B. Rhodes, President and CEO, NYSERDA. "New York is developing innovative market solutions and advancing new policies that will transform clean energy markets. We welcome New York Energy Week's bringing together industry thought leaders to discuss how public and private actors can accelerate clean energy. Our collaborations will spur innovation and investment in clean energy, protect the environment and decrease energy costs providing a secure energy future for all New Yorkers."
More than 65 industry leaders will speak during the week, including: Audrey Zibelman, New York Public Service Commision Chair; John McAvoy, CEO and President Con Edison; John Rhodes, President and CEO, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority; Ken Daly, President, National Grid New York; Alfred Griffin, President, New York Green Bank; Gil Quiniones, President and CEO, New York Power Authority; Jigar Shah, Founder & Former CEO of Sun Edison; Chris Faulkner, CEO, Texas-based Breitling Energy; Peter Molengraaf, CEO, Alliander; and Cheryl Martin, Acting Director, the Department of Energy's ARPA-E program.
"New York Energy Week isn't just about New York, or the East Coast, or even just the US," said Chris Faulkner, CEO, Breitling Energy. "Because the attendees are such a diverse group of international energy experts, this is an opportunity for meaningful dialogue and information exchange that is truly not to be missed. Creating an energy policy isn't what it used to be. It has actually become a global issue where the decisions of one nation can and will ultimately affect many other nations. That's why I feel it's important that these energy policy discussions occur within a global setting that features an international audience of very intellectual minds. And New York Energy Week provides just that."
New York Energy Week is the only event series and summit that unites the often fragmented energy market participants, while cultivating a previously unidentified community of energy professionals rooted in New York's business economy.
