Sec. Davin Continues 'Jobs that Pay' Tour at Roaring Spring Water in Blair County, Pennsylvania, Highlighting Commitment to Supporting Employees
Wolf Administration Continues Efforts to Raise the Wage in PA
ROARING SPRING, Pa., July 8, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Davin today continued the "Jobs that Pay" tour at Roaring Spring Water in Blair County. Davin commended company officials for its continued growth and strong commitment to supporting its workforce.
"Pennsylvania businesses can look to companies like Roaring Spring Water as an example of a business that is growing and thriving, while supporting employee morale, productivity, and quality of work by paying employees a competitive wage," said Sec. Davin. "Roaring Spring Water understands that in order to have a successful business, paying employees a competitive wage is the smart thing to do and the right thing to do."
Roaring Spring Water has 64 employees in the business unit starting at $11.75 to $18.75 per hour depending on the position.
"The Roaring Spring family of businesses has always strived to pay family sustaining wages and fringe benefits," said Daniel Hoover, President & CEO Roaring Spring Blank Book Company. "We operate in competitive markets which require continuous improvement and employee cooperation to sustain our market share."
Governor Wolf is calling on Pennsylvania's House and Senate to pass legislation to raise Pennsylvania's minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.15 per hour, while tying it to inflation to maintain its purchasing power over time. A minimum wage increase to $10.15 per hour supports local businesses, creates new jobs, and would boost state revenue by roughly $60 million annually.
Roaring Spring Water is a fifth generation, American family-owned company founded in 1981. All of the water their customers enjoy comes from a single, protected natural spring located on their premises in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania. Roaring Spring Water provides bottled water delivery and coffee services to over 50 counties in Central and South Central Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland.
