Seattle Experts to Play Lead Role; SRI Mini-Conference Offers Key Continuing Education Opportunity for Seattle CFPs, CIMAs, and Financial Professionals
SEATTLE, March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Impact investing—the hottest topic today in the world of sustainable, responsible, impact (SRI) investing—will be the focus of an all-day meeting on March 31, 2015 for Seattle area investment professionals and investors. "Investing for Impact: Seattle" will take place from 9:00am to 4:30pm, with a networking reception to follow, at the Bell Harbor Conference Center.
Conference speakers will include: Tim Benzel, CFA and executive vice president, Seattle-based SNW Asset Management, Patrick T. Drum, CFA, CFP, research analyst and portfolio manager, Saturna Capital Corporation, based in Bellingham, Washington; George Gay, CEO, First Affirmative Financial Network; Danielle Figure, president, As You Sow; Charles Sandmel, portfolio manager, Shelton Capital Management; and Mel Miller, chief economist, First Affirmative Financial Network.
"Investing for Impact: Seattle" will focus on how advisors can address the emerging demands of socially conscious investors by teaching the basics of sustainable portfolio management, with presentations on subjects such as fossil fuel free investments, and high-demand green bond options.
This major Seattle event is designed for investors and investment professionals interested in putting money to work to change the world through sustainable and responsible investment strategies, but who may not have all the right tools at their fingertips. More details are available online at http://investingforimpactevents.com.
The event will offer four hours of CE for investment professionals who hold a CFP or CIMA designation. Seattle is the second stop for similar financial professional training sessions through the first half of this year, including other stops in San Francisco, New York, Minneapolis, and Boston. "Investing for Impact" events in 2015 will culminate with the 26th annual SRI Conference – on Sustainable, Responsible, Impact Investing, November 3–5, 2015 where the theme will be "All In For Impact."
First Affirmative Financial Network President Steve Schueth said: "Although the SRI landscape is rapidly expanding, many investment advisors in Seattle are still attempting to serve socially conscious clients without much support from their firms, and without a great deal of the information and insights that impact-oriented clients require. That's where our regional 'Investing for Impact' event series comes into play—offering the information, tools, resources, and services that advisors need to meet the growing demand for more responsible investment strategies."
