Seattle-based Compendium Wins Seven LOUIE Awards at the National Stationery Show in New York
A big night for a small firm as card lines Frank & Funny and Positively Green earn numerous industry accolades
SEATTLE, May 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Compendium had a winning night at the stationery industry's premier awards event, the LOUIE Awards, held in New York City on May 19, 2013. Celebrating the honor's silver anniversary, the LOUIEs recognize amazing talent and creativity. With nine nominations out of 1,000 competitive entries, the Compendium team closed the evening with a record seven awards.
Positively Green, the company's flagship greeting cards, received five awards and Frank & Funny, the newly launched comedian-authored card line, won two awards in its inaugural year. The specific awards received by the company include: Positively Green - Family Celebrations, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, Congratulations/Special Occasion and Birthday (General) and for Frank & Funny - Friendship/Encouragement (Humorous) and Get Well/Feel Better.
The Frank & Funny cards show a cheekier side of Compendium, sharing the hilarious perspectives of 26 different comedians and their thoughts on life. The giggles do not stop with the copy; the back of each card features a behind-the-curtain peak at the comedian who authored the joke. For example, Frank & Funny founder, David Crowe, writes about a two-word solution to avoiding purchasing pets at a pet store with his two-year-old daughter: "It bites."
"We are inspired by the recognition and are more energized to create for our customers," said Kobi Yamada, chief executive officer of Compendium. "This is about our team's incredible efforts and they deserve the recognition as we seek new ways to make moments memorable."
The Positively Green line - launched in 2008 - focuses on earth friendly greeting cards that share an inspirational message. The paper is 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper manufactured in the U.S. Printing occurs at a Seattle-based EnviroStar environmentally certified printer and the minimal packaging is biodegradable. True to its name, Compendium donates 10 percent of Positively Green proceeds to environmental organizations, such as Climate Solutions, PAWS and Alaska Wilderness League.
