Sears Holdings to Be Presenting Sponsor of Rebuilding Together's Historical Fifty for Five Event

WASHINGTON, May 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Sears Holdings has joined Rebuilding Together as the presenting sponsor for Fifty for Five.

Fifty for Five is Rebuilding Together's newest and largest rebuilding event, celebrating the revitalization work of New Orleans neighborhoods since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the area in 2005. Rebuilding Together has invested immense rehabilitating efforts in New Orleans since the time of the hurricanes, and they will mark their progress and promises fulfilled by rebuilding 50 homes in the Gentilly neighborhood on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the hurricanes.

Sears Holdings has had a great relationship with Rebuilding Together since 2007, raising over $9 million for Veterans Housing through the Sears Heroes at Home program, and by supporting energy efficient work on rebuild projects throughout the year.

Sears will support Fifty for Five with significant funding, appliances for the homeowners being served, and over 100 employee volunteers are expected to participate in the event.

Fifty for Five will take place from August 24 – 29. During this week-long celebration, 50 homes will be rehabilitated, allowing the homeowners who have been struggling since the hurricanes to move back into their newly restored homes. Media personalities, local leaders, community members, and national sponsors will all be in attendance throughout the week – assisting in the massive neighborhood rebuilds, community block celebrations, and media events.
