67% of SCORE clients reported increased business revenue last year, returning $47.16 to the Federal Treasury for every federal dollar appropriated to SCORE.
SCORE's volunteer ranks have increased by 26% from 2010 to 2018, and SCORE is actively recruiting business mentors, subject matter experts, workshop presenters and chapter support roles.
SCORE's dedicated volunteers include:
- Karen Williams: A six-year veteran of the SCORE Washington D.C. chapter, Williams is a former VP of corporate contracts, pricing and supply chain at Northrop Grumman and offers expert advice on the federal procurement process. "As a mentor, Ms. Williams is … making a mark in my life that will never be erased," says entrepreneur Jeanette Hughes, a 2017 SCORE Awards winner.
- Chunny Sudana: A business consultant who began her career at Google, Sudana found SCORE as a client, while seeking business help for her family's restaurant. Five years later, she mentors and leads workshops at the Los Angeles chapter. She says, "My passion stems from the fact that SCORE directly improves the local economy, by working with local businesses to help them grow."
"We are humbled by the hard work and dedication shown by our volunteer mentors," says SCORE CEO Ken Yancey. "They come from across the nation, with experience in all areas of industry, but they share the same goal of helping American entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams. They make a significant, positive impact on the success of the small business owners we serve."
