Scoopshot Named 2014 Appy Awards Winner
Photo and Video Crowdsourcing Platform Takes 1st Place in the Marketing/Branding/Advertising Category
NEW YORK, May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Scoopshot, the global leader in crowdsourced, mobile photo and video content, has been named a 2014 MediaPost Appy Awards Winner in the Marketing/Branding/Advertising category. With over 515,000 mobile users and 1,500 professional photographers in 177 countries, Scoopshot is transforming how media outlets and brands source content and engage their audiences. The Appy Award speaks to Scoopshot's success in making user-generated content an essential tool for global marketing and media organizations.
This year's annual Appy Awards recognized creativity and excellence in app design across 40 different categories. The panel of judges included 19 industry experts with backgrounds in marketing, advertising, public relations, software development, creative design and related fields.
"We're honored that the Appy Awards judges recognized how Scoopshot is redefining content sourcing, audience engagement and brand experiences for modern organizations," said Petri Rahja, founder and CEO of Scoopshot. "Today, we serve over 70 leading media companies and we're growing rapidly. The real challenge for Scoopshot is keeping up with demand."
The Appy Award judges were particularly impressed with Scoopshot and Heineken's "Show us Your Heineken Moment" campaign, which attracted 750 user submissions, including a picture of a Finnish parachutist holding a beer can thousands of feet above the Earth. Such campaigns make audience members part of the brand or newsgathering experience, and they are easy to create. Publishers simply send the task to a local, national or a global pool of Scoopshooters. They receive smartphone push notifications, capture images and upload them within seconds. For publishers, all Scoopshot content includes publishing and commercial rights.
Scoopshot has garnered impressive results with brands and news media. The German newspaper WAZ recently collected 27,023 user photos of coffee cups while the Netherlands' Boerderij magazine sourced 13,200 photos of families farming together. Scoopshot is the only app that has automatic, patent-pending image authentication technology that validates images by geographical location, EXIF data and resolution. Thus, editors do not need to spend tedious hours authenticating photos and videos.
To date, Scoopshooters have posted over 1.3 million photos, completed more than 1,000 media and brand tasks and have earned over $500,000 for their efforts.
