Scoopshot Launches Daily Photo and Video Contests
Users can now vote on daily contest winners and submit their top shots for a chance to be showcased in front of 600,000 worldwide users, brands and media companies
NEW YORK, Feb. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Scoopshot, the global leader in crowdsourced mobile photo and video content, today launched version 5.0 of its iOS and Android app, which features new daily video and photo contests. The contests give amateur photographers a new way to get their photos recognized by top media companies and brands. Each contest gives users 24 hours to submit an image, and winners are determined by a community vote.
Globally, over 600,000 people from 200 countries use Scoopshot to showcase their photography and offer their work for sale. Top media companies and brands, including USA Today, News Corp Australia, Fiat and Oxfam, use Scoopshot to crowdsource news images and marketing materials. The app's patent pending technology authenticates every image submitted to Scoopshot – over 1.8 million photos and videos to date.
The daily contests are a new set of photo and video challenges offered by Scoopshot, in addition to the tasks run by brands and publishers. Fun contests like #selfiesundays, #streetart and #reflective give users a chance to be creative and push the boundaries of their photography. Nine daily contests will run every day for 24 hours, and every Scoopshot user is welcome to submit one image and cast votes in each contest.
Petri Rahja, CEO and founder of Scoopshot, commented: "Our goal is to provide mobile photographers with a platform to discover and be discovered. The new daily contests provide the photography community with the first ever photography challenges in which they can compete and vote for one another, with the winner rewarded by the community.
"Thanks to the quality of images taken with smartphones, there is a wealth of on the ground reporting and unsung creativity out there that brands and publishers can tap into. Importantly, unlike other photo sharing platforms, the photographer retains all rights to their photo or video up until the point at which it is sold. We believe it is very important to protect our users' digital rights as well as ensure that our clients acquire the appropriate rights to use or own content."
Mobile photographers now have four ways to get involved in the Scoopshot community. They can:
- Participate and vote in daily contests – each submission can earn a minimum of $5 if it is sold in the Scoopshot store.
- Submit images to brand and publisher tasks, which offer cash rewards for the best submissions.
- Submit a photo or video they're proud of to the Scoopshot store, and set a selling price.
- Receive a share of advertising revenue from photos published online by media companies and blogs using Scoopshoot's in-image ad network, IAN.
In addition to daily contests, Scoopshot has introduced updates to the navigation, profile page and activity feed in version 5.0. Users can now check the "Daily Set" tab for new contests each day. Activity pages will now display purchased images, along with the companies that purchased them, and daily contest photos that have been voted to victory.
