MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis., May 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Scion Dental, part of the SKYGEN USA family of distinguished benefit management companies, announced today that it has been granted full re-accreditation for both Health Utilization Management, Version 7.2, and Claims Processing Administration with Claims Review and Appeals, Version 4.2, by the URAC Accreditation Committee.
This marks the third time Scion Dental has achieved this distinction, which provides an external seal of approval while demonstrating the company's commitment to promoting quality healthcare services. Scion Dental was the first dental benefit management company to earn full URAC accreditation in 2010. Accreditation is valid for three years.
"The delivery of high quality services has always been a top priority for Scion Dental," said John Schaak, president of Scion Dental. "Yet there is nothing like receiving a third-party endorsement. The process for receiving full URAC Accreditation is long and arduous, but we feel it is critical to validating our commitment to using industry best practices to deliver our services. It is quite an accomplishment. It speaks well of our team and of Scion Dental's approach to dental benefit management."
The URAC accreditation process demonstrates a commitment to quality services and serves as a framework to improve business processes through benchmarking organizations against nationally recognized standards. URAC accreditation requires applicants to submit policies, procedures, and other organizational information that is followed by a review.
"Scion Dental should be commended for meeting strict quality standards," said URAC president and chief executive officer Kylanne Green. "It is critically important for healthcare organizations to make a commitment to quality and accountability. URAC accreditation is a demonstration of that commitment."
URAC's accreditation is nationally recognized by state and federal regulators to ensure the highest level of quality is delivered to consumers. URAC accreditation and its programs and standards appear in state legislation, state regulation, and federal regulation. URAC has deemed status in state and federal certification programs and is authorized by HHS as an accreditor for Qualified Health Plans in the Health Insurance Marketplace. Formally incorporated in 1990, URAC now has more than 30 accreditation programs.
