Scientific Leaders in Renal Research to Give Keynote Talk in Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading renal researchers, Professor Vlado Perkovic and Dr. David Charytan will give a joint talk entitled Ambitious Protocols, Complex Trials and Scientific Leadership in Cambridge at 6 p.m. on the 26th April, 2017. The talk, sponsored by George Clinical, will outline the importance of scientific leadership in running the perfect random control trial.
Professor Vlado Perkovic, widely considered a world authority in the fields of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and nephrology, is the Executive Director of The George Institute for Global Health Australia, and Professor of Medicine at University of Sydney. His research focus is in clinical trials and epidemiology, in particular in understanding both the cardiovascular risk associated with kidney disease and the impact of interventions that might mitigate this risk. He has been involved in developing Australian and global guidelines in kidney disease, cardiovascular risk assessment and blood pressure management.
Dr. David Charytan, a scientific and academic leader in renal clinical research, serves as Director of ICU Nephrology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Director of Renal Research at Balm Institute. Dr. Charytan's major focus concerns utilization rates and outcomes of interventional and medical therapies for cardiovascular disease in the setting of chronic kidney disease as well as the contribution of microvascular disease to cardiovascular death in the setting of impaired kidney function. His studies have highlighted concerns related to the use of standard therapy for coronary disease in the setting of chronic kidney disease. Dr. Charytan also has extensive experience using various techniques to analyze administrative data sources related to cardiovascular therapeutics.
The event is the first in a series of talks sponsored by George Clinical, an Asia focused CRO with global capabilities. This talk aims to provide a number of practical examples of how scientific/academic leadership can have a positive, cost-effective impact on complex trial delivery.
The talk, accompanied by drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be held at:
