MILWAUKEE, Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Northwestern Mutual is announcing the promotion of Sarah E. Schott to head the compliance/best practices department at Northwestern Mutual. Effective today, Ms. Schott will become an executive officer, vice president, and chief compliance officer.

Schott joined Northwestern Mutual's law department in July 2007 as assistant general counsel assigned to investment products and advisory services. She subsequently served as director - strategic planning and consulting and as director – specialty life underwriting in the new business department. She also served as secretary to the company's management and strategy execution committees.

Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual, Schott spent four years at B.C. Ziegler and Company, first as assistant general counsel and later as senior managing director - general counsel. From 2000 through 2003, she was an associate at Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon, a national law firm headquartered in Chicago.
Schott is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence University, a member of the Lawrence University board of trustees, and a 2000 graduate of Duke University School of Law. She and her husband Brian King have two sons.
