Schoology Strengthens its Education Cloud with Skyward SIS and Respondus Integrations
Educators now save time, sync data accurately, and preserve the integrity of tests without leaving their learning management system
NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Schoology, the education technology company that puts collaboration at the heart of the learning experience, today announced new integrations with Skyward SIS and Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor, to expand its education cloud. The integrations will further add to Schoology's single, easy-to-use hub that provides flexibility for all users.
"Education technology tools are often too disconnected, making it difficult for educators to collaborate and manage students across multiple applications. Educators are also faced with increasing challenges as monitoring student behavior becomes even more important with technology in the classroom," said Ryan Hwang, co-founder and vice president of product at Schoology. "The ability to sync student grades with Skyward's student information system and the better control of the testing environment with Respondus' LockDown Browser have been popular integration requests that we now have available for our clients."
Details on the new integrations are as follows:
Respondus: Working with Respondus, Schoology is enabling its educators to preserve the integrity of tests by providing a way to restrict a student's online activity and monitor their physical behavior while taking a test. Teachers can designate assessments that can only be completed using the Respondus LockDown Browser from within Schoology, without ever leaving the platform. This means educators can have peace of mind that their students don't have wandering fingers either chatting with other students or viewing unauthorized websites, while saving them time by using the Schoology technology and assessments they already have in place.
Skyward: Schoology's integration with the Skyward SIS allows educators to save hours of time, removing the need to put grading information into multiple gradebooks. It also ensures that course, enrollment, and other student information in both systems remains accurate and consistent throughout the school year. This is done through a two-way syncing process that pulls data from Skyward into Schoology and vice versa. The integration provides the 1,800 school districts that use Skyward the ability to implement an automated synchronization of data, exponentially increasing accuracy of the data stored by eliminating human error.
"Schoology is the digital hub of our instructional materials that makes resources accessible to students, parents and teachers through the interface they use every day," said Mark Garrison, Director of Technology & Innovation at White Bear Lake Area Schools. "With the Skyward integration teachers can enter grades once into Schoology and have it populate both the Schoology and Skyward gradebooks, saving them time and ensuring the data in both systems is consistent and current."
Schoology is continuously working to make its education cloud the most inclusive learning management system. To learn more about Schoology integrations, see https://www.schoology.com/k-12/interoperability.
