NEW YORK, May 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsoft tools are changing the classroom, and teachers and students benefit when these resources mesh with existing technology. Schoology, the leader in learning management systems (LMS) for education, today announced major enhancements to its integration with Office 365. The updates will allow students and educators to more easily use Office 365 while working inside of Schoology to manage grades, assignments and student submissions.
"Many of our educators love using Office 365 and Schoology, but require a deeper integration to leverage the best of both platforms," said Ryan Hwang, VP of Product for Schoology. "The best workflow for educators and students is where Microsoft content is leveraged seamlessly within the Schoology user experience."
The new enhancements allow for students, educators and administrators to:
- Easily search, browse and use Office 365 directly from within Schoology
- Distribute a unique copy of an Office 365 document to every student in the class from within Schoology
- Monitor student progress on an assignment in real-time without leaving Schoology
- Submit their assignments back to the instructor with a single click
- Place grades and feedback on an Office 365 document within Schoology
"We're a Microsoft Office 365 institution," said William Illingworth, Instructional Technologist & Digital Learning Systems Administrator at Lancaster Bible College in PA. "We have several programs that use the integration and these enhancements will revolutionize their use!"
This update will streamline the experience of using Office 365 within Schoology for teachers, students and administrators. Educators will be able to easily search for documents by keyword, reducing time spent looking for documents.
"I'm excited because the integration between Office 356 and Schoology helps teachers and students focus more time on teaching and learning with services that enable easy creation and sharing of ideas while building skills with the tools employers seek in future employees," says Eran Megiddo, Corporate Vice President OneNote, Wunderlist and Education at Microsoft.
The new integration makes it possible to use Microsoft's native commenting features from the context of your Schoology assignment. This allows both students and educators to use Office 365 inline commenting for assignment-specific communication as well as Schoology's full grading experience, including the use of rubrics, comments and grades. This way, collaboration and communication are never lost.
The enhanced Office 365 Integration will be available to preview at the Schoology NEXT User Conference in July, and will be available to all users for the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.
