Schoology Announces Contract with Los Angeles Unified School District
Second-Largest U.S. School District Signs Contract for Learning Management System to Personalize Education, Give More Visibility to Student Performance
NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Schoology, the education technology company that puts collaboration at the heart of the learning experience, today announced that it has signed a contract with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the country's second-largest public school district with more than 1,000 schools and approximately 640,000 students. The contract was awarded following a competitive RFP process to procure a learning management system (LMS).
Schoology provides a cloud and mobile platform that allows teachers to manage student grades, develop and deliver curricula, and collaborate online with peer teachers, students, counselors, and parents. Schoology's LMS will give teachers the ability to deliver learning resources to students online and provide classrooms access to modern tools for content management, discussion, safe messaging, and assessments.
"Giving educators visibility into the complete picture of each student as well as the tools they need to more easily manage their classrooms and personalize education, is vital for 21st century learning," said Jeremy Friedman, founder and CEO of Schoology. "But, it must be done in a way that works easily with their current systems and teaching approach. We are looking forward to achieving exactly these results with LAUSD."
This announcement comes in the midst of a banner year for Schoology. The company recently surpassed 1,000 institution and district-wide customers and announced wins including Seattle Public Schools and Boulder Valley School District.
