CANTON, Mass., July 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- School of Rock, the leader in performance-based music education, is hitting the road this summer. After a nationwide search for the top students in School of Rock's more than 200 schools and more than 30,000 students, seven AllStars bands have been chosen to tour the country and play a full-band show at top music venues throughout the U.S. The tours kick off at the end of July and will hit top cities including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and more.
The AllStars music program is the pinnacle achievement for School of Rock students. The level of talent is incredibly high because the competition is stiff. Less than one percent of School of Rock students are accepted into the AllStars program. The selection process includes video submissions, followed by live auditions across the U.S. Once selected, the seven AllStar bands rehearse and prepare to play a ten-day tour across the United States culminating in a major festival/venue appearance at iconic centers of music such as Red Rocks Festival, Lollapalooza and more.
"The caliber of talent in these bands is awe-inspiring," says Rob Price, CEO of School of Rock. "We created this program to give these students a real-life touring experience and a potential jump start to their career as performers. It's a thrill for School of Rock to showcase these brilliant young artists and share their magic with others."
School of Rock provides students of all ages an exciting and engaging music lesson experience, which includes guitar lessons, singing lessons and piano lessons. Drawing from all styles of rock and roll, School of Rock students learn theory and techniques via songs from legendary artists such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Frank Zappa. Thanks to the school's performance-based approach, students around the world have gained superior musical proficiency, with some moving on to record deals and larger platforms such as American Idol, The Voice and Broadway.
"The students in these bands embody the School of Rock program," says Rick Carney, Music Director of the AllStars program. "They strive for excellence, and put in the work to create meaningful experiences on stage. This program is where our students can take what they've learned in our classrooms and share their experience to hopefully inspire someone in the audience to pick up an instrument they've always wanted to play."
