School Fair to Feature Wide Variety of Area Schools during National School Choice Week
500 parents expected to explore local educational options
MILWAUKEE, Jan. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Representatives from dozens of area schools, school networks, and organizations will be on-site to help as families explore more than 250 total educational options at a school fair, which runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee.
The event is free and aimed to help parents learn about and choose the right fit for their students from a wide variety of different schools, including both public and private. Parents are encouraged to bring questions for school representatives.
There will be giveaways, gifts, a dance competition, and refreshments.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"Parents know their kids' needs. We just need to provide them with accurate information about their school options," said Tammy Olivas, director at Hispanics for School Choice, which is hosting the event. "National School Choice Week gives families the opportunity to learn what more than 250 K-12 schools in the city have to offer. Every parent should know about the education options Wisconsin has to offer."
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
