School Fair to Feature Multiple Charter Schools, Student Performances during National School Choice Week
ST. LOUIS, Jan. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- A free, fun fair for St Louis families will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grand Hall on Chouteau. A student string quartet, a student dance team, and a robotics demonstration will provide some of the entertainment. About 500 people are expected to attend.
Local charter schools and educational groups from every sector will be represented at the fair as well as education resource organizations. Food, music, and activities for children will also be included. The school fair celebrates 20 years of charter schools in St. Louis.
Families in attendance can learn about the various educational options and make more informed decisions about their children's education.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"Every child deserves the opportunity to receive an excellent education. Although there are many students receiving great instruction, today there are nearly 400,000 Missouri students below grade level, and if we don't address their needs they will become nearly 400,000 adults ill-prepared for their future and the needs of our state's workforce," said Dr. Douglas Thaman, Executive Director at the Missouri Charter Public School Association. "It is incumbent upon us to ensure that every single child in this state has excellent educational options available to them."
The Missouri Charter Public School Association is hosting the event.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
