School Choice Event to Discuss How to End Bullying, Violence
ELGIN, Ill., Jan. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Are our schools safe environments for children to learn in? What risks are involved in sending children to school? State Rep. Allen Skillicorn will answer these questions at a school choice event, "How Do We Reduce Bullying and Violence in Schools?," at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 at Elgin Community College.
After Rep. Skillicorn's briefing on the state of educational choice in Illinois, the event will feature a presentation by Elgin police on school violence.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"No child should be forced to remain in an unsafe education environment," said Lennie Jarratt, project manager at The Heartland Institute. "We look forward to coming together for an honest discussion of how school choice can ensure a safe learning environment for all students in Illinois."
This event is sponsored by The Heartland Institute, a national nonprofit research and education organization, in partnership with Americans for Prosperity and the Illinois Conservative Union.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
