School-Based Health Care Providers in Key Position to Improve Oral Health via Teledentistry: MouthWatch, LLC Shows Cost-Effective Solution at Annual SBHC Convention in California
NEW YORK, June 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Children-focused early intervention and preventive care efforts have far reaching positive benefits. In several states one approach being tried to achieve those impacts is School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs). Dental and oral health care, however, often fall outside the health care umbrella offered by SBHCs. This dental care gap is problematic, because it's increasingly clear that children's oral health problems can lead to a wide range of other health and well-being issues.
MouthWatch will be attending the National School-Based Health Care Conference (jointly organized by the National School-Based Health Alliance, and the California School-Based Health Alliance) to talk with school-based health advocates, administrators and stakeholders about how teledentistry and MouthWatch's teledentistry platform, TeleDent, can help dental professionals partner with SBHCs to make sure every School-Based Health Center can offer students access to dental care expertise, preventive care and even restorative procedures—for healthier smiles and improved oral health for the rest of their lives.
MouthWatch CEO, Brant Herman, provides some background on MouthWatch's outreach to school-based health centers:
"The statistics we've seen show many SBHCs aren't able right now to provide dental care for students at schools they service. We're attending the School-Based Health Care Conference to discuss how TeleDent, an easy to deploy teledentistry solution, could help partner dental professionals with SBHCs to fill these dental care gaps. Eliminating the obstacles that prevent providers from offering care in this setting is critical, and TeleDent is designed to make the connections that enable delivery of care."
MouthWatch is a key part of several pilot projects that facilitate care delivery in a range of settings including schools, nursing homes, rural clinics, emergency rooms, private practice outreach and a number of diverse public oral health programs. They are actively seeking partners to deploy TeleDent as a solution for SBHCs and other public health initiatives. They can be contacted at their website mouthwatch.com, or by calling 877.544.4342 to schedule a demo and free consultation.
"While the landscape of teledentistry is evolving, there are many paths for an SBHC to provide a wider scope of dental care," Herman says speaking about his company's free consultation meetings with SBHCs. "From enhanced screenings to closing the loop on referrals and restorative treatment, TeleDent can connect students to dental care in some truly innovative ways. We encourage SBHC stakeholders to schedule an initial consultation to learn how TeleDent can work in their unique setting."
