Scholarships Awarded to 45 Freshmen College Students Who Are Children of Anheuser-Busch Employees
ST. LOUIS, Aug. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Forty-five students whose parents are members of The International Brotherhood of Teamsters working at one of Anheuser-Busch's 12 U.S. breweries from coast to coast have been awarded $1,000 scholarships for their freshman year of college this fall.
It's part of the Anheuser-Busch - Brewery Conference of Teamsters Merit Scholarship Program that was established to identify and honor exceptional high school students and provide assistance with college expenses.
The program is open to all children of Anheuser-Busch brewery employees who are members of The International Brotherhood of Teamsters and registered as freshman at an accredited college or university. Up to 48 scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded each year, four from each of Anheuser-Busch's 12 U.S. breweries.
A neutral third party selects the winners based on merit, including the student's GPA/high school transcript and PSAT/NMSQT score.
The scholarship winners for this school year are:
BALDWINSVILLE BREWERY:
- Brennen Barrigar, Jordan-Elbridge High School, will be attending Syracuse University. His father, Paul Barrigar, works in the Operations department at the Baldwinsville brewery.
- Molly Elizabeth Blair, Auburn High School, will be attending Alfred University. Her father, James Blair, works in the Operations department at the Baldwinsville brewery.
- Thomas A. Halstead, Skaneateles Senior High School, will be attending Allegheny College. His father, Thomas Halstead, works in the Operations department at the Baldwinsville brewery.
- Brendan O'Meara, West Genesee Senior High School, will be attending University of Albany. His father, David O'Meara, works in the Operations department at the Baldwinsville brewery.
CARTERSVILLE BREWERY:
- Kaylee Fallin, Armuchee High School, will be attending Georgia Highlands College. Her father, Kevin Fallin, works in the Operations department at the Cartersville brewery.
- Kayla M. Hatch, Rockmart High School, will be attending Kennesaw University. Her mother, Donna Culpepper, works in the Operations department at the Cartersville brewery.
