Scholarship America® Now Accepting Applications for New Midwest Scholars Dream Award
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Scholarship America®, the nation's largest nonprofit scholarship and education support organization, is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for a new Midwest Scholars Dream Award through Sunday, October 15, 2017.
"The Midwest Scholars Dream Award was created through a generous $2 million one-time gift from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous," noted Robert C. Ballard, Scholarship America's president and CEO. "This is tremendous opportunity for outstanding students in 12 states in the upper Midwest."
Eligible students must have received a high school diploma or the equivalent from a school in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota or Wisconsin. In addition, students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, demonstrated financial need and the ability to overcome challenges and barriers. Awards are renewable and increase in amount each year.
Up to ten Midwest Scholars Dream Awards will be given to students who have completed or expect to successfully complete at least one full year of postsecondary education by June, 2018. Individual awards will vary depending on financial need but can be as much as $15,000.

The Midwest Scholars Dream Award aligns with Scholarship America's Dream Award. Now in its fifth year, the Dream Award is Scholarship America's unique renewable scholarship program for financially needy students who have overcome barriers and successfully started their college education. In the last four years, Scholarship America has awarded $725,000 to 42 students, with scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 based on the individual student's financial need.
