ANDOVER, Mass., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced Ivonne Valdes, vice president of global strategic accounts, Cloud and Service, IT Division, Schneider Electric, has been named to the Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) Top 100 list of the most influential and notable Hispanic professionals in the information technology (IT) industry for the fifth year. In addition to this honor, Valdes has been selected to serve on the HITEC Foundation Board of Directors, which cultivates education and leadership for Hispanic youths in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines.
Since 2008, the HITEC Top 100 list has recognized professionals in the Hispanic community for their leadership and achievements in all sectors of the technology industry. Those named to the list are evaluated on their accomplishments in the business of IT, as well as how they've served to inspire young people to pursue careers in technology and motivate professionals to excel and connect with the Hispanic community. Members included on the list were selected by the Board of Directors of HITEC and the 2018 Selections Committee.
As a member of the board, Valdes will work together with other IT industry professionals to address the issues that impact underserved Hispanic students in middle school, high school and college. The HITEC Foundation delivers programs related to its three pillars: scholarships, technical and educational resources and executive development to create a pipeline of talent for tomorrow and develop leaders in technology.
"At Schneider Electric, diversity is an integral part of our history, culture and identity," said Helen Bradley, senior vice president of Human Resources at Schneider Electric. "Ivonne's commitment to mentoring and helping advance STEM education with children and adults exemplifies our values. We are proud that she is utilizing her talents to build future IT leaders and entrepreneurs in the Hispanic community, and we are confident that she will continue to make a difference for future generations."
The honorees on the HITEC Top 100 list were recognized during the gala HITEC 100 Awards Reception and Dinner in Santa Clara, California, on Nov. 2, held in conjunction with HITEC's Executive Leadership Summit.
