Schneider Electric's digital transformation recognized with eCAC40 award
- Schneider Electric is once again one of the best-performing companies in the eCAC40 ranking for digital progress, achieving its highest-ever score
- The result reflects the company's successful digital strategy, which was launched more than 10 years ago and gets stronger every year
BOSTON, Oct. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has once again been recognized as one of the CAC40's top performers in Digital Transformation. Schneider Electric came 3rd in the "eCAC40" ranking, which is published annually by France's economic newspaper of reference Les Echos, based on a methodology conceived by Gilles Babinet, France's Digital Champion at the European Commission. Schneider Electric achieved its highest ever score in the ranking – equivalent to 80.3 percent – proof of the company's success in putting digital at the heart of its strategy, for the benefit of its customers.
Schneider Electric is a digital pioneer
Schneider Electric has always come in the top ten in the eCAC40 ranking and was first in 2014. The company's record score of 80.3 percent this edition demonstrates, in this increasingly tough "competition," that digital transformation is a strategic imperative in all economic sectors. Schneider Electric France President Christel Heydemann, who received the trophy, said: "Digital is everywhere, and for Schneider Electric, it is the key to better use of energy." She added that for a global company such as Schneider Electric, which operates in local markets, the digital transformation was an enabler of cross-function collaboration. That's why the company put in place in 2017 Schneider Digital, a backbone to shape the common foundations. Schneider Electric's Chief Digital Officer Hervé Coureil confirmed: "Digital transformation is the only way, in organizational terms, of delivering consistency and efficiency across a global group undergoing strong external growth". Indeed, Schneider Electric has tripled in size since 2000, largely through acquisitions. Its digital strategy has enabled the optimization of processes and the implementation of an entirely customer-centric end-to-end strategy across the company.
Digital is in Schneider Electric's DNA
In 2009, Schneider Electric launched EcoStruxure™, its IoT-enabled, plug and play, open, interoperable, architecture and platform. Now boosted for cloud and digital services, EcoStruxure™ delivers enhanced value around safety, reliability, efficiency, sustainability, and connectivity. EcoStruxure™ leverages advancements in IoT, mobility, sensing, cloud, analytics and cybersecurity to deliver innovation at every level, from connected products; edge control; and apps, analytics & services. EcoStruxure™ has been deployed in 480,000+ sites, with the support of 20,000+ system integrators and developers, connecting more than 1.6 million assets under management through 40+ digital services. Building on EcoStruxure™, 45 percent of Schneider Electric sales in 2017 were IoT-related.
Since 2011, Schneider Electric has progressively adopted a cloud-based relationship management tool for the entire organization. Since then, pursuing its transformation from being a products manufacturer to becoming a provider of products, solutions and services to solve customers' challenges, Schneider has realized the payoff of its digital strategy. Its "Digital Net Satisfaction Score" indicator has gone up 27 points since it was launched.
Long-term digital evolution
While Schneider Electric's digital foundations are solid, the company recognizes that more must be done, particularly to help partners and customers in their own digital transformation journeys. To enable this progress, Schneider Electric established a Digital Roadmap for 2018 around 6 pillars. Measures include the "Digital + Digitize" strategy to exploit new technologies bringing solutions that are better adapted to customer needs, while standardizing and improving processes in a constant drive toward operational excellence. The company also established a Digital Committee at the board level, making Schneider Electric one of the first companies in its industry to have a dedicated high-level structure focused on issues such as cybersecurity, the digital customer experience and IoT. Another important initiative was the creation of an internal "Digital Barometer," which measures the pace of Schneider Electric's digital transformation on a month-by-month basis, ensuring the long-term continuity of its digital evolution.
