ATLANTA, June 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Schneider Electric will continue its partnership with Habitat for Humanity to provide residential equipment for Habitat homes and help families secure affordable housing. Schneider Electric's commitment over the next year will include nearly $3.6 million in product and financial donations.
"At Schneider Electric, we believe in building sustainable communities and we support Habitat for Humanity in its dedication to bringing people together to build decent and affordable homes," said Ted Klee, Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain, Schneider Electric North America. "Our mission is to ensure that Life Is On everywhere, for everyone and at every moment—ensuring that energy is safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable—in every home."
Schneider Electric employees will build alongside 16 Habitat families across the country in need of decent and affordable housing. In addition, Schneider Electric will donate its Square D electrical equipment to help reduce the cost to construct Habitat homes in the U.S. and Canada. Several additional grants will be available to help families build affordable housing in Canada and Mexico.
"Schneider Electric's continued support of Habitat's work over the years has been so important in helping us build strong and stable communities," said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. "We appreciate their partnership and the employees who work alongside future homeowners who are eager to create new opportunities for themselves and for their families."
Additionally, Schneider Electric recently supported Habitat for Humanity Chicagoland's annual Hero Awards dinner and will also be a sponsor of Habitat's 2016 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project taking place in August in Memphis, Tennessee.
Since the partnership began in 2000, Schneider Electric has donated more than $34 million worth of Square D by Schneider Electric electrical equipment to build Habitat homes in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, the company has donated more than $6.7 million worth of funding to help cover the cost of land, infrastructure and building materials of Habitat homes.
About Habitat for Humanity International
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity has grown from a grassroots effort that began on a community farm in southern Georgia in 1976 to a global nonprofit housing organization in nearly 1,400 communities across the U.S. and in over 70 countries. People partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.
