Schneider Electric and QTS Expand Standardized Data Center Model with Dallas Facility
- Repeatable design and consistent infrastructure drastically reduces deployment times
- Standardized model enables QTS to quickly respond to changing customer demands
- QTS' Dallas data center adds capacity to existing 25+ locations across the country that benefit from the standardized infrastructure model
ANDOVER, Mass., Feb. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Schneider Electric, the global specialist in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today announced it is expanding its relationship with data center operator, QTS, to support the company as it builds out its Dallas data center. The expanded facility in Dallas will add an additional 32 megawatts of capacity to the existing 54-acre data center campus.
Delivering speed through standardization
The explosive growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), widespread adoption of cloud services and emerging edge computing workloads are pushing data center operators to examine which designs will best support their environments and help meet ever-changing customer demands. QTS offers a combination of data center models including custom data centers, traditional colocation, and public and private cloud that support hybrid environments and allow customers to rapidly scale IT as their business demands.
Working with Schneider Electric, QTS has created a repeatable design and consistent infrastructure through standardization, which drastically reduces deployment time.
"QTS' standardized approach to data center design offers a proven foundation, consistent high levels of service and ever-improving speed to market," said Jason Walker, Cloud & Service Provider Director, Schneider Electric. "We look forward to continuing our work with QTS through the Dallas expansion and finding ways to enhance their portfolio for even faster deployment."
A partnership built on continuous improvement
As QTS works towards full standardization across its 25+ data center locations, Schneider Electric will continue to play a critical role in helping the company enhance its portfolio and identify areas for improvement.
Success on the infrastructure side of the partnership has led QTS to also work with the Schneider Electric Building Management Systems (BMS) team to acquire, analyze and act on the facilities' data to further standardize and streamline operations and enable more data-driven decision-making.
"When it came to looking for the ideal partner, we wanted a relationship that was more than just transactional – from the start, we were able to have open dialogue with Schneider Electric about our broader goals and mutual intent for the data center market," said Nathan Hazelwood, Director, Strategic Procurement, QTS. "Working with Schneider Electric, we've moved through designing, building, modifying and scaling our model to expedite the standardization process, and in turn, have accelerated speed to market for our customers, most recently with the Dallas expansion."
