SCD-iBIO Announces Second International Forum on Commercializing Global Green
WASHINGTON, Aug. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SCD-iBIO, an industrial biotechnology focused group affiliated with the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA), today announced that the Second International Forum on Commercializing Global Green: Markets from the Value Chain Perspective will be held November 11-13, 2013, at the Chemical Heritage Foundation (CHF) in Philadelphia, PA.
SCD-iBIO organized the forum to address the broad range of markets industrial biotechnology penetrates and discuss key issues facing the industry, such as shale gas and gas liquids.
"The advent of shale gas and gas liquids has changed the landscape of chemical production and products," said William B. Armiger, Ph.D., Executive Director of SCD-iBIO and President of BioChemInsights, Inc. "Petroleum feedstocks (specifically naphtha) previously were used, but now natural gas liquids like ethane and propane are taking its place. Because of the feedstock change, industrial biotechnology is being asked to complement natural gas liquid-based production with products that would normally come from naphtha-based steam crackers. Attendees at our meeting will go away with a better understanding of what the future holds for partnerships between shale gas and industrial biotechnology," he said.
The three-day interactive event will include not only in-depth discussions but opportunities to network and form new professional relationships. End markets that will be highlighted include packaging, automotive, advanced biofuels and personal care, as well as intermediate markets for coatings, adhesives and sealants. The forum offers attendees an opportunity to ask questions, express opinions and widen their perspectives.
"Our forums bring together companies along the entire iBIO value chain from raw materials to commercial brands in an intimate and interactive environment where they can gain an in-depth understanding of the market forces and technological advances driving business growth," Armiger said.
