SCAN Health Plan Promotes Gerald Coley to Regional Vice President for Northern California
LONG BEACH, Calif., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- SCAN Health Plan, the fourth largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage Plan in the United States, has promoted Gerald Coley to the newly created position of regional vice president for Northern California, effective immediately. Coley previously served as director of network management and provider services for the health plan.
"Gerald played a key leadership role in managing and coordinating our successful market introduction into Contra Costa, San Francisco and Santa Clara counties in 2009," said Hank Osowski, senior vice president of corporate development for SCAN. "His expertise in business development and understanding of this particular market will serve SCAN and our members well as we continue to build name recognition in the region with members and providers."
With the acquisition of Medcore Health Plan in San Joaquin County last October, SCAN now has more than 5,400 members in four Northern California counties.
In his new role Coley will be responsible for strengthening and coordinating operational activities in all four of SCAN's Northern California counties as well as working with corporate leadership and staff to position SCAN for long-term success in these and future Northern California-expansion counties.
Coley has nearly three decades of experience and expertise in a wide range of areas within the healthcare delivery and managed care industries. Prior to joining SCAN in 2005, he was the president and principal consultant at Coley Associates, which he founded in 1991 to provide business development and organizational assessments to healthcare companies. Coley earned a Master of Business Administration at Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science degree in health systems at the University of Connecticut.
Unlike most Medicare Advantage plans, SCAN has no commercial members, which allows it to dedicate 100 percent of its energy and programs toward serving older adults across the wide spectrum of aging.
