LONG BEACH, Calif., Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- SCAN Health Plan, one of the nation's largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans, is proud to announce the top performing medical groups in its California provider network. The medical groups recognized are the top seven performers for care and service based on SCAN's internal quality metrics.
"SCAN's mission is to keep seniors healthy and independent, and in order to do this, we work with premier partners that are just as committed as we are to delivering the highest quality of care for our members," said Sherry Stanislaw, SCAN Health Plan senior vice president and general manager. "We commend these seven providers that represent the best in the industry. It's their ability to improve clinical outcomes and enhance our members' healthcare experience that helped SCAN achieve 4.5 out of five stars* from CMS for 2018."
The following medical groups are recognized as the top performers for care and services based on SCAN's internal quality metrics scale:
- Scripps Health Plan
- DaVita HealthCare Partners
- Riverside Medical Clinic
- MemorialCare Medical Group
- Greater Newport Physicians
- St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare
- Monarch Healthcare
"At SCAN, we want all seniors to receive optimal quality of care and service, which is why we work closely with our contracted medical groups to continue to improve and go beyond SCAN's metrics," said SCAN Medical Director Terence Offenberger. "We applaud our top-performing medical groups, as well as those dedicated to meaningful improvement, and we look forward to continued collaboration to serve our members across the state."
SCAN's internal quality metrics include a focus on preventive screenings, treatment of chronic conditions and appropriate documentation to ensure members get the care they need to stay healthy and independent. These metrics are similar to those used by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) in its Star Rating System, which weighs such factors as clinical outcomes, managing chronic conditions, preventive care and consumer satisfaction when determining a Star rating for each Medicare Advantage plan in the nation. SCAN's quality metrics are not reviewed by Medicare.
