ScaleArc Unveils Enhancements to its Database Traffic Management Software for SQL Server and MySQL Database environments
New auto-failover capabilities in the 3.2 version of ScaleArc's software advance the availability and performance of business-critical applications and websites
SEATTLE, Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- PASS SUMMIT 2014 -- ScaleArc today announced new enhancements to its database traffic management software that further automate and streamline the failover process in a SQL Server or MySQL database environment. ScaleArc for SQL Server 3.2 supports the extended secondaries enabled in SQL Server 2014, and ScaleArc for MySQL 3.2 supports new replication capabilities available in MySQL 5.6. Built on patented Ternion™ technology, ScaleArc's software inserts between the databases and applications and delivers zero downtime for applications in SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle database environments.
For ScaleArc for SQL Server, updates in the 3.2 release include:
- New failover enhancements – the ability to read from a secondary server during failover reduces downtime and increases application availability
- Active Directory (AD) user sync – automatic synchronization between ScaleArc and AD means user authorizations for database access automatically applies through the ScaleArc platform, eliminating manual permissions maintenance
- Support for up to eight secondary servers
For ScaleArc for MySQL, updates in the 3.2 release include:
- Expanded replication and auto-failover capabilities – additional support for more advanced forms of replication and the automation of the slave promotion process as enabled in MySQL 5.6
- SSL offload for MySQL – end-to-end SSL protection provides advanced security and eases compliance for organizations moving applications to the cloud
ScaleArc previously announced new failover capabilities in ScaleArc for Oracle 3.2. The latest product updates derive from a new unified software platform, which enables consistent application availability and scalability in mixed database environments.
"Business continuity has become an overarching issue for all of our customers – whether they are serving their business-critical applications on prem or in the cloud," said Justin Barney, president and CEO of ScaleArc. "Most organizations realize that the database is a major source of availability issues and performance degradation, but do not have an effective solution for eliminating these issues. Deploying ScaleArc gives our customers an agile data tier that prevents both planned and unplanned downtime, shielding applications from changes or disruption in the database infrastructure."
Consistent with ScaleArc's architecture for transparent deployment, these new capabilities require no modifications to applications or the database. The new features augment the existing database load balancing and traffic management capabilities in ScaleArc's software that are proven to increase the availability and performance of mission-critical applications and websites.
The 3.2 version of the ScaleArc's database traffic management software is currently available. For more information on evaluating ScaleArc's software, click here.
