SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Scale Computing, the leading provider of hyperconverged solutions, today announced the promotion of Phil White to Chief Technology Officer, where he will be responsible for overseeing the underlying innovation behind Scale's products as the company grows its vision and expands its customer base. White moves to CTO in place of Jason Collier, whose new responsibilities within the company include strategy and the evangelization of hyperconvergence in the midmarket and SMB spaces.
A key contributor to Scale Computing's success from its founding, White previously served as Chief Architect for the company, conceiving and designing many of Scale's technologies that bundle storage, servers and virtualization software into an all-in-one appliance to reduce organizations' operational complexity. White is also credited with the innovation of SCRIBE, Scale's proprietary storage technology, and HyperCore, Scale's state machine-based cluster management solution.
Prior to joining Scale Computing, White was the co-founder and CTO of several startup technology businesses. At Corvigo, he was closely involved in the design and implementation of the MailGate enterprise email filtering appliance. White has also held engineering roles at Openwave, Radiate and Tellabs. He graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
Scale Computing is developing at an exponential pace and the company just announced it raised $18 million from ABS Capital Partners to continue to innovate on its architecture. Collier, a co-founder of Scale, will continue to focus his efforts on the company's technical direction, as well as its branding and marketing strategies. Collier noted that evangelizing for Scale Computing has always been a passion of his and the promotion of White to CTO is a windfall for the company.
"Phil has always been one of the key technical leaders within the organization and is perfectly suited to take the reigns as CTO as we continue our tremendous growth," said Collier. "This new position allows Phil to get out from behind the code and take a more proactive role in the company, guiding the innovative development of our technology through his future-thinking leadership. His dedication, desire and vision will carry Scale Computing forward to a whole new generation of users."
