SCAD to Host SCAD Style 2011, April 25 - April 29
Renowned style and design event to be held in Savannah and Atlanta
SAVANNAH, Ga., April 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Savannah College of Art and Design will host SCAD Style 2011, the university's nationally recognized, signature style and design event, April 25-April 29, at various locations at SCAD Savannah and SCAD Atlanta. This series of events features world-renowned artists, designers and industry professionals and highlights several of the college's programs of study, including fashion, fibers and interior design. All lectures are free and open to the public.

Throughout SCAD Style, students and the public will have the opportunity to participate in lectures, exhibitions and film screenings from well-known artists, designers and industry professionals.

- Derek Lam
- Derek Lam is a multi-Council of Fashion Designers of America Award-winning designer. He is known for creating clothes that are both luxurious and wearable, and he is the co-founder of Derek Lam International, which includes handbags, shoes and eyewear.

- Waris Ahluwalia is the jewelry designer behind the House of Waris, known for its exquisite jewelry handcrafted by artisans in India using traditional artisanal techniques. This past year he was inducted as an official member of the CFDA and placed on Vanity Fair's Best Dressed List. He was anointed British GQ's #2 best dressed man internationally and included in Vogue's 10 Most Impactful People of 2010.

- Fred Castleberry
- In creating his style blog Unabashedly Prep more than two years ago, fashion photographer F.E. Castleberry has unwittingly become a pundit of the preppy aesthetic. Splitting the majority of his time between different locations along the East Coast, he has become part of the subculture he initially set out to document. His commercial clients include Ralph Lauren and Norman Hilton, among others. Castleberry has been published in GQ, Women’s Wear Daily, The Rake, Matchbook Magazine and in the forthcoming book “Preppy: Cultivating Ivy Style.”

- Director Richard Press' documentary is a heartfelt and honest film about the inimitable New York Times photographer, who has for decades lovingly captured the unexpected trends, events and people of Manhattan for the Styles section of the newspaper. The film shows Cunningham, an octogenarian, riding his Schwinn bicycle to cover benefits, galas and fashion shows around Manhattan, and illustrates how his camera has captured the looks that have defined generations.

There will be a multidimensional exhibition that showcases the essence of Jacqueline Susann's style and her continuing influence on the world of fashion. The exhibit will feature pieces from Susann's personal archives, period garments and current fashions and designs inspired by the author, the book and the movie that defined the culture of the 1960s and that continue to inspire today's most influential designers.
