SCAD Named Best Motion Graphics School 2017
The Rookies names SCAD "Best Motion Graphics School"
Official ranking of Best Creative Schools in the World announced
ATLANTA, March 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has been named "Best Motion Graphics School" by The Rookies in the 2017 official rankings of The Best Creative Schools in the World. This global competition aims to discover and showcase outstanding student talent in creative fields.
SCAD's accredited motion media design degrees are offered in Atlanta, Hong Kong, Savannah and online via eLearning. Motion media design students learn from expert, credentialed faculty who are practitioners as well as educators, and partner with top names in the industry on real-world projects, including a recent collaboration with FOX Sports for the opening visual for the Super Bowl. Coursework cultivates creative expression while emphasizing vital production skills and techniques.
"On top of the world, what a monumental place for our motion media design program to be!" said SCAD president and founder Paula Wallace. "This No. 1 ranking by The Rookies is testament to the career preparation that occurs at SCAD, further proof of what we hear every year from the biggest network names—CNN, Showtime, NBC, and MTV—when they come to recruit our students into the next-gen motion graphics jobs. SCAD students are real-world ready."
SCAD is the first university to have its own dedicated motion media festival, SCAD CoMotion, now in its eighth year. CoMotion is sponsored by MOME Love, SCAD's motion media professional organization, and features panels, portfolio reviews, networking receptions and a student work showcase. In 2017, SCAD CoMotion attracted industry heavy-hitters including Gentleman Scholar, The Mill and loyalkaspar, whose chief creative officer Beat Baudenbacher delivered the keynote address.
The Rookies rankings are based on over 1,800 submissions of portfolios and student work from more than 500 universities internationally. Each submission was reviewed by a judging panel that included Joe Letteri, Academy Award winner for Best Visual Effects in two "Lord of the Rings" movies, "Avatar" and "King Kong," on the following criteria: creative skills, technical skills, presentation, variety of skills, raw talent and employment potential.
