SC Johnson Fund Young Leaders Program Awards Scholarships to Racine-Area Students

RACINE, Wis., June 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SC Johnson is pleased to announce that the SC Johnson Fund Young Leaders program has awarded 16 new scholarships and renewed 44 for students in the Racine Unified School District attendance area who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. The SC Johnson Fund will provide $297,500 in scholarships for the 2011/2012 academic year. Each recipient receives a $5,000 scholarship with the ability to renew it for three additional years.

This year's winners are Emily C. Aiello, Jose C. Albiter, Gabriela Beltran-Maldonado, Catherine R. Carbajal, Jakia M. Davis, Gabriel C. Fabela, Jaquesha D. Jenkins, Shakela A. Johnson, Eliazar A. Martinez, Ryan C. Miller, Jacqueline E. Pruitt, Dana R. Radojevic, Scott L. Ray, Amanda M. Santos, Tanya R. Tilot and Ana D. Villa-Ruiz.

The SC Johnson Fund established the program in 2002 and has assisted nearly 150 students with more than $2.4 million in scholarships paid since the program's inception. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must demonstrate economic need, have a minimum cumulative grade point average, and plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender or disability. The scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America.
