SC Johnson Convenes with White House and Community College Leaders
The Family Company Highlights Intensive Training Program to Meet Needs of Local Employers
RACINE, Wis., Oct. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SC Johnson, the maker of trusted household products like Glade®, Raid®, Pledge® and OFF!®, announced that the family company participated in the Community College Convening at the White House in Washington, D.C. today. The event was hosted by Dr. Jill Biden and senior White House administration officials.
The Convening highlighted best practices to strengthen community college reform and partnerships to make progress on the shared goals of college opportunity and college affordability. Attendees—including college presidents, policymakers, elected officials, business and organization leaders, researchers and students—described effective solutions that can improve college-readiness strategies and provide pathways to a college degree and a good-paying job.
In collaboration with Gateway Technical College, SC Johnson highlighted the company's support of Gateway's Bootcamp, an intensive 14-20 week training program in a variety of skills designed to meet the needs of local employers and changing industry trends. Since 2012, SC Johnson has donated approximately $2.5 million to fund and expand the training program.
