Saxo Auction Winners to Accompany Tour de France Legend Bjarne Riis to Reims in the Tinkoff-Saxo Team Car
HELLERUP, Denmark, July 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
On 10 July, when the 6th stage of the Tour de France begins, Sven Siig Møller, CEO of Zen systems, B2B Internet connections provider, and his business partner, Thomas Køster Rasmussen, will be sitting in the team car next to Bjarne Riis, the former professional road bicycle racer who placed first in the 1996 Tour de France, and now manager of UCI ProTour outfit Tinkoff-Saxo.
Saxo Bank, the online trading and investment specialist and a name sponsor of the team since 2008, cover all expenses and Tinkoff Sport sponsors the two seats in the sport car. The experience was auctioned earlier this month. It was won by Sven Siig Møller and the money was donated to the Non-Governmental Organisation for Children exposed to Domestic Violence.
The charity proactively helps children and young people who are experiencing violence in their home or with their boyfriend or girlfriend. They do this by holding free seminars with panel of experts at schools and universities, and through the anonymous webmail on its website.
Upon arrival Sven Siig Møller will have breakfast with the team and then drive with Bjarne Riis from Arras to Reims. Following the 194 km stage, Møller and his business partner will end the day by having dinner with Tinkoff-Saxo in Reims, the champagne capital. In the past 23 years, the Arras-Reims stage has featured in 3 Tour de France races. The last three finishes on this flat and quick stage were all won after a bunched sprint, the first by Djamolidine Abdoujaparov (1991), then Robbie McEwen (2002) and Alessandro Petacchi (2010), all three would go on to win the Tour's points classification, showing what a crucial stage in the race this is.
In a joint statement Kim Fournais and Lars Seier Christensen, co-CEOs and co-Founders, said:
"Saxo Bank has long cherished innovation, integrity and performance. This is why the Bank supports initiatives in a number of important areas including education and entrepreneurship, arts and literature, along with sport and health. We are always very pleased to combine our sponsorships with charities like Children Exposed to Domestic Violence in order to help raise awareness and to aid in fundraising. It has been a pleasure to work with Tinkoff-Saxo on this initiative and we wish the winner a fantastic day with Bjarne Riis and his riders."
