Save Mart Signs Contract With Mirixa Corporation
Supermarket chain invests in improving health outcomes of its employees
RESTON, Va., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Mirixa Corporation's MirixaEdge(SM), a web-based clinical application for the delivery of medication therapy management services, was recently selected by Save Mart Supermarkets, a 244-supermarket chain operating in California and Nevada, as an integral part of its employee health and wellness initiative. The company has approximately 19,000 employees, and owns and operates the Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky, and FoodMaxx stores in Northern California and Northern Nevada.
Save Mart Supermarkets' employees will benefit from having medication therapy management services available to them, which encourage adherence to prescribed medication regimens, check for appropriate use of medications, ensure patient safety, and provide educational information about the medications the employee is taking. Employees of all ages and with any medical condition may take advantage of these services. A patient medication record is created and can be shared with family members, physicians and other health care providers, as identified by the patient.
MirixaEdge will be deployed to Save Mart Supermarkets' 115 in-store pharmacies. Michele Snider, Executive Director of Pharmacy at Save Mart Supermarkets, notes, "Our company believes that our employees are a vital company asset and their well-being is of paramount importance. We want to empower our employees and actively engage them in the management of their health and wellness. MirixaEdge will enable our pharmacists to consult directly with employees and to help them to understand why they are prescribed specific medications and why they should take the medications as prescribed."
In addition to medication therapy management, MirixaEdge includes patient care program templates for chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. These templates help to guide the pharmacist through the data collection process for illnesses that typically involve multiple medications and co-existing conditions. Rick Solano, CEO of Mirixa is pleased that Save Mart Supermarkets is taking a proactive approach to employee health and notes, "Health consumerism is on the rise and pharmacy-based patient care services are a key component in empowering individuals to take better care of their health. Mirixa is pleased to be working with such a forward-thinking organization."
Save Mart Supermarkets will begin using MirixaEdge in May 2010.
