Saudi King Abdullah Orders $500 Million in Humanitarian Assistance to the Iraqi People
WASHINGTON, July 1, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, ordered the provision of $500 million in humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people who have suffered greatly from recent events, including those who have been displaced, regardless of their religion, sect or ethnicity.
The U.N. Secretary-General has been informed of this contribution, which will be provided solely to the Iraqi people through the appropriate U.N. agencies. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will coordinate with the U.N. to ensure that the assistance reaches all segments of the Iraqi population that have suffered from recent developments.
